The Advocate Project uses XR technology and documentary storytelling to counter bias, accelerate economic equality and power environmental justice.

The organization is founded by Christy Wegener and Andrea Berman, award-winning documentary and immersive content filmmakers, known for their impactful projects addressing social and environmental justice issues. Their Emmy-nominated Netflix film, I Am Vanessa Guillen provided awareness and support for the I Am Vanessa Guillén Act, which fundamentally transformed how the U.S. military handles sexual assault and harassment by removing prosecution decisions from the local chain of command, criminalizing sexual harassment as a specific offense under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), and mandating independent investigations. They also produced the upcoming feature documentary, All American Girls, which focuses on the importance of upholding a truthful, inclusive narrative of United States history along with several critical environmentally-focused projects.

The Advocate Project’s core focus areas include social inequality with a focus on gender, racial and LGBTQIA discrimination, gender violence & environmental conservation. The team has prioritized these issues throughout their 20+ year careers.
